1996’s:

Principal Company was established as an importer and distributor of food products, supplying its 1st product- Fino Amalyse and Dobrim Extra to local flour millers. By then, flour millers were facing challenges on how to improve the quality of their flour. That’s when Godfrey saw this as an opportunity and motivated to venture into the baking ingredient business.

1999’s:

For the first time, Principal Company has officially introduced ‘Dobrim Extra a powdered bread improver’ that contains state-of-the-art enzymes and emulsifiers for optimum performance in Tanzania’s baking industry.

2002’s:

Principal Company served Scores Supermarket, as its first South African Supermarket retail chain in Tanzania, with a diverse and specialized range of high quality baking ingredients. Furthermore, Principal Company continued to grow and expand its market share by serving Shoprite Supermarket which is also another South African supermarket retail chain that had taken over from Scores supermarket.

2010’s:

Principal Company entered into a partnership with Niacet to become their sole distributor for Calcium Propionate in Tanzania’s baking market.

2012’s:

Dunkin Donuts was setting up a franchise in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and they tasked Principal Company to source for a unique range of baking ingredients to enable them to offer donut lovers with more than 100 types of donuts.

2013 - 2016’s:

At a time, where cake emulsifiers where still a foreign technology for local cake bakers, Principal Company went ahead and introduced “Ovalett” an iconic cake gel that went and left a mark in Tanzania’s baking industry. Ovalett is a high performance, vegetable based gel that was popular for giving better cake textures and volume for cakes. To-date, cake bakers have nicknamed the term Cake Gel with our Ovalett.
